THE CITY OF <br /> —•• ° ° 'u: "" CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT 15 <br /> pLEASANTON, <br /> July 16, 2019 <br /> Operations Services <br /> TITLE: APPROVAL OF AGREEMENT WITH DERWA TO PROVIDE POTABLE <br /> WATER TO AUGMENT THE RECYCLED WATER SUPPLY <br /> SUMMARY <br /> Dublin San Ramon Services District (DSRSD) and East Bay Municipal Utility District <br /> (EBMUD) Recycled Water Association (DERWA) and the City of Pleasanton (City) <br /> would like to establish a long-term agreement to use the potable water supply turnout <br /> that was established in accordance with the temporary water supply agreement <br /> approved by City Council on January 24, 2017, during construction of phase two of the <br /> DERWA facilities expansion project. <br /> DERWA completed their recycled water facilities expansion in February 2018, and there <br /> continues to be a need for a potable water supply that would be used for periods of <br /> recycled water shortages/outages and system maintenance, reducing the risk of not <br /> meeting recycled water customer demands. This agreement will cover intermittent <br /> temporary recycled water shortages and outages if they do occur by supplementing the <br /> recycled water supply with potable water purchased from the City of Pleasanton by <br /> DERWA. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Staff recommends the City Council approves and authorizes the City Manager to <br /> execute an agreement to provide potable water supply by and between DERWA and <br /> the City of Pleasanton. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> There is no financial impact caused by this agreement. Pleasanton essentially will be <br /> reimbursing itself for the portion of the recycled water supply allocated to the City, while <br /> DSRSD and EBMUD will be reimbursing the City for their allocated portions. <br />
