20. Presentation of a proclamation proclaiming June LGBTQ Pride Month <br /> Councilmember Brown acknowledged Susana Chow and Kathy Gabor and presented them with a <br /> proclamation declaring June as LGBTQ Pride Month. Dianne Harris, President of Tri-Valley <br /> PFLAG, thanked the City for the proclamation. <br /> 21. Public Comment <br /> Jorge Victoria, President, Pleasanton/Tulancingo Sister City Association, congratulated the City <br /> on its 125th anniversary; reported Tulancingo is celebrating its 36th anniversary as a Sister City <br /> and listed recent activities taken by the organization. He commented on a recent wheelchair <br /> donation by the Rotary Club and thanked them for the generous donation. He presented a gift to <br /> the City from the President of Tulancingo Fernando Perez. <br /> Yong (Cindy) Jiang congratulated the City on its anniversary and spoke on behalf of Gate Tree <br /> Circle residents relative to the Amador High School solar panel parking lot. She expressed <br /> concern regarding opening a gate on Gate Tree Circle by Amador High School for construction, <br /> City Manager Fialho acknowledged there will be a significant impact and noted it is a school <br /> district project, however, the City is assisting in coordinating and managing congestion and <br /> developing a parking plan. He reported on an upcoming meeting and commented on additional <br /> mitigation measures. <br /> Mayor Thorne advised that since the item is not on the agenda, Council cannot discuss this this <br /> matter. <br /> Dorothy Kyle, resident of Gate Tree Circle, expressed concern regarding public safety in the area <br /> and impacts of the parking lot construction. <br /> Heidi Zorzi spoke in opposition of using Gate Tree Circle as a drop-off for school children noting it <br /> will increase traffic and congestion. <br /> In response to Mayor Thorne as to whether Council will hear this matter in the future, City <br /> Manager Fialho reported the responsibility is being delegated to City Traffic Engineer Mike <br /> Tassano to make adjustments based on the feedback received. In terms of the amount of traffic, <br /> he reported 400 stalls will not be available and in addition to the seven drop-off locations identified <br /> throughout the City in and around Amador High School, the City has increased bus service <br /> beyond the current service. The City is also coordinating with a private shuttle service to pick up <br /> students from the two Middle Schools that feed into Amador. He said the primary message is for <br /> residents to walk, bike or use public transportation. He added the item will not come to Council as <br /> unless Council requests it. <br /> Councilmember Testa noted walking is not an option for many students and the majority of <br /> students will need to use some kind of vehicle. <br /> Jill Lackhoff opposed using Gate Tree Circle as a drop-off for students. <br /> James Wood reported he lives on Ridgewood and asked Council to be mindful that it is not just a <br /> Gate Tree issue. <br /> In response to Councilmember Testa regarding the access gate, City Manager Fialho reported the <br /> gate that goes into the campus near the track and football field was closed by the school district <br /> several years ago; however the district plans to reopen it to encourage people to walk.
