She was advised that Alameda County would not
consider taking a subordinate position.
Chairperson Soby discussed the Affordable By Design concept and thought this might work if
the numbers had been reworked.
Mr. Dolan discussed the possibility of moving forward with the East Side Plan that could include
smaller homes.
Commissioner Duggan felt it would be worth looking into increasing loan amounts.
Chairperson Soby asked about next steps, and Mr. Dolan advised that staff will work with
different scenarios to put together additional information for consideration by the Commission.
Commissioner Gaidos felt it was important to look at lower-cost homes and providing $150,000
towards down -payments.
Mr. Hernandez advised that Mr. Warner will provide City staff information on how the lottery
system works.
MATTERS INITIATED BY MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION
Commissioner Kiziloglu provided information from her attendance at a recent housing meeting
in Sacramento and advised she had shared a report with Mr. Hernandez and asked that it be
provided to Commissioners. She indicated that there had been no representation at the
meeting from the City of Pleasanton.
Mr. Dolan provided information about how the City of Pleasanton and contract work with
lobbyists as a group being more effective and Tri -Valley cities have agreed to this approach.
Commissioner Kiziloglu commented on a 28 -page Turner Report and felt more information
should be provided to the Commission by staff rather than it being received in other ways.
COMMISSION REPORTS
None.
FUTURE MEETING AGENDAS
Commissioner Welsh commented on the rent review ordinance item mentioned in the March
minutes and felt it could be a policy that the City of Pleasanton should consider. Mr. Dolan
commented on it being confrontational and thought the Commission should consider how they
want to proceed after they have received information.
Commissioner Welsh also asked about safe places for homeless individuals who are living in
their vehicles. Mr. Dolan advised that staff have been working on this for several months and
are working on a homeless strategy that will result in real action. This item will first be
presented to City Council for their consideration before it is brought to this Commission.
Commissioners were advised that the recent count for homeless in Alameda County is in the
8,000+ range.
Page - 5 -
