THE CITY OF 2
CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
pLEASANTON
June 18, 2019
City Manager
TITLE: APPROVAL OF A SECOND AMENDMENT TO A LEASE FOR
INSTALLATION OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT WITH NEW
CINGULAR WIRELESS PCS, LLC, ON THE DOOLAN TOWER LOCATED
AT 3801 DOOLAN ROAD IN THE CITY OF LIVERMORE
SUMMARY
In 1994, the Cities of Livermore and Pleasanton entered into a joint intergovernmental
agreement for the purpose of owning and operating a radio tower at 3801 Doolan Road.
In accordance with the intergovernmental agreement, the tower may be made available
for third-party usage subject to approval by each of the Cities. New Cingular would like
to amend the lease to allow for additional equipment i.e., two remote radio units (RRU's)
and one surge protector, to be mounted on the tower. The City of Pleasanton would
receive an additional $3,612 annually in rent for the additional use of this jointly owned
facility.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council approve the Lease for Installation of
Telecommunication Equipment between the cities of Pleasanton and Livermore and
New Cingular Wireless.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
The City will receive 43 percent of a $700 increase in monthly rent ($301) for the
addition of the new equipment on the tower. The City of Livermore receives the
remaining 57 percent of the increased rent. The monthly rent is also subject to an
annual escalator that is tied to the Consumer Price Index.
