or walk to the bus station, people are dependent upon a safe, reliable local transportation <br /> network; and <br /> WHEREAS, modernizing the local street and road system provides well-paying <br /> construction jobs and boosts local economies; and <br /> WHEREAS, the local street and road system is also critical for farm to market needs, <br /> interconnectivity, multimodal needs, and commerce; and <br /> WHEREAS, police, fire, and emergency medical services all need safe reliable roads to <br /> react quickly to emergency calls and a few minutes of delay can be a matter of life and death; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, maintaining and preserving the local street and road system in good <br /> condition will reduce drive times and traffic congestion, improve bicycle safety, and make the <br /> pedestrian experience safer and more appealing, leading to reduced vehicle emissions helping <br /> the State achieve its air quality and greenhouse gas emissions reductions goals; and <br /> WHEREAS, restoring roads before they fail also reduces construction time which results <br /> in less air pollution from heavy equipment and less water pollution from site run-off; and <br /> WHEREAS, the SB-1 project list and overall investment in our local streets and roads <br /> infrastructure with a focus on basic maintenance and safety, investing in complete streets <br /> infrastructure, and using cutting-edge technology, materials and practices, will have significant <br /> positive co-benefits statewide. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> PLEASANTON DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER THE FOLLOWING: <br /> SECTION 1. Amends the Streets CIP budget for fiscal year 19/20, incorporating the <br /> following list of projects planned to be funded with Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation <br /> Account revenues: <br /> Annual Resurfacing and Reconstruction of Various Streets, CIP No. 20503: The project <br /> will resurface 1,225,000 square feet of various streets throughout the City during the <br /> summer of 2020, including: Santa Rita Road —from Old Santa Rita to West Las Positas; <br /> Andrews Drive; Apache Drive and related courts; Mohr Avenue, from Santa Rita Road to <br /> Nursery Drive; First Street/Stanley Boulevard, from Vineyard Avenue to California <br /> Avenue; the Jensen Tract, including Alvarado Street, Graham Street, School Street, <br /> Jensen Street and Kolln Street; Downtown streets, including St. Mary Street, W. Angela <br /> Street and Neal Street; Black Avenue, from Crestline Road to Greenwood Road; and <br /> Sutter Gate Avenue, from Santa Rita Road to Mohr Avenue. The project will be <br /> completed by the fall of 2020. The resurfacing treatments will extend the useful life of the <br /> treated roadway by an additional 10-to-15 years. <br /> PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Pleasanton at <br /> a regular meeting held on April 16, 2019. <br /> I, Karen Diaz, City Clerk of the City of Pleasanton, California, certify that the foregoing <br /> resolution was adopted by the City Council at a regular meeting held on the 16th day of April, <br /> 2019, by the following vote: <br />
