• Once the new building is open, will Workday will continue to occupy all buildings it
currently has?
o Yes; Workday is creating a campus with the adjoining Stoneridge Corporate
Plaza buildings. As well, Workday has acquired the JC Penny plaza site on which
it plans to build an office building in the near future
■ Pamela Ott doesn't consider this as shrinking the retail footprint in the
area but an effort to better support the retail that's there.
• Does the City consider how much revenue will be generated when deciding when to
allow redevelopment?
o Not necessarily as the City is generally more focused on the benefit to the
community
• Will the new Workday campus be open to the public?
o The main Workday campus area will be private and limited to Workday
employees only, while the area between the mall, BART and Workday will be
open to the public.
• Stoneridge Shopping Center general manager Jeffrey Chen shared that the interior of
the mall is also a top priority and the team at Simon is doing well with new leases and
quick turnaround of vacancies.
• It is important to reach out to existing companies in this area to make sure they are still
happy, and keep them informed about the redevelopment activity and any future plans.
• If Kaiser Permanente builds additional commercial on its identified housing opportunity
site, there are implications due to `no net loss' restrictions.
o Per Gerry Beaudin, current zoning has potential housing sites that could
accommodate for relocating those units lost.
o Is Kaiser Permanente planning to stay at the Pleasanton location given its new
medical center in Dublin?
■ Yes, Kaiser Permanente will remain in Pleasanton and would like to
expand.
With the Johnson Drive Economic Development Zone/Costco project there was a lot of
initial excitement but then the project was significantly delayed. Could this happen with
the redevelopment of the mall?
o This is less likely to happen because there is a development agreement already
in place, but it is possible if there is community concern about the expansion.
o This is not a public hearing process; at the entitlement to expand is already
approved via the development agreement this is a design review process to be
considered by the Planning Commission (and not the City Council).
MATTERS INITIATED BY ECONOMIC VITALITY COMMITTEE
No matters were initiated.
MEETING ADJOURNED
The meeting was adjourned at 8:49 a.m.
