ATTACHMENT 1 <br /> New Carpenters Training Center Pleasanton: <br /> "The Carpenter"Art Piece Narrative <br /> Prepared by: David Crawford, RMW Architecture(4/10/2018) <br /> "THE CARPENTER" <br /> In 1989,the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners commissioned <br /> "The Carpenter"from the artist Robert Gottshall for placement in the <br /> national headquarters in Washington, D.C. and the International Training <br /> ._ Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.The Northern California Carpenters Regional <br /> Council intends on commissioning"the Carpenter"for the new Pleasanton <br /> Training Center. <br /> "The Carpenter" is a heroic life-size(6'-5"tall man) bronze sculpture <br /> depicting a carpenter in the act of hammering.The piece is approximately 3'-10" high,4'-8" in length, <br /> and 3'-6"wide.The sculpture is cast silicon bronze, approximately.25 inches thick,with a patina of <br /> potassium sulfate, cupric and ferric nitrate. It would be placed on a pedestal or base that is finished in <br /> porcelain tile that looks like wood (similar to the tile that is on the building). In addition to the sculpture, <br /> the carpenters are considering placing"The Carpenter"in front of a backdrop of rusted metal panels to <br /> help set it apart from the surrounding landscape.The location being considered for"The Carpenter" is <br /> near the main entry driveway to the Training Center along Santa Rita Road as depicted in the rendering <br /> below. <br /> AN <br /> View of The Carpenter" prominently displayed next to the main entry drive and Santa <br /> " Rita road.The <br /> view down the entry driveway terminates at the entrance to the Training Center building. <br /> End of Art Piece Narrative <br />
