PUBLIC HEARING AND OTHER MATTERS <br /> a. Planning Commission Design Training <br /> Workshop and training with Rick Williams, Principal, Van Meter Williams Pollack, on <br /> concepts, strategies and approaches for effective project design review. <br /> Planning Manager Ellen Clark introduced Rick Williams and Andrew Faulkner from Van Meter <br /> Williams Pollack, LLP (VMWP), with whom the City had contracted to provide training to staff <br /> on design review approaches and strategies. <br /> Director of Community Development Gerry Beaudin explained the process that was <br /> undertaken by VMWP, including their review of recent projects that have come through the <br /> City's development process. <br /> Mr. Williams gave a broad overview of the interaction between VMWP and staff, which has <br /> included best practices, lessons learned from other communities, and thinking about this <br /> training as a foundation to build a common vocabulary and a common set of principles to <br /> enable the City to maintain the essence of Pleasanton. <br /> Planning Commission Minutes Page 2 of 5 January 23, 2019 <br />
