• Will the retail market analysis still be conducted? <br />o Yes, included in department work plan <br />• All four projects are important so don't eliminate any, but should prioritize. <br />Staff described the rankings listed in the draft work plan: <br />A — Planned for the first year of the work plan <br />B — Planned for the second year of the work plan <br />C — Initiated as time permits <br />D — Not recommended <br />• For the life sciences sector expansion, which agency — City, Chamber of Commerce, <br />etc. — will do which parts? <br />o This won't be determined until the work plan is formally adopted and project <br />planning begins <br />• The business support initiative is at the core of the EVC's work and needs to be done <br />• Should the Council work plan include the Stoneridge Shopping Center renovation and <br />expansion project, and planning for the broader area? Why is it not already on the list? <br />The property owner, Simon Properties, did not request that it be on the work <br />plan; should Simon do so, the work plan can be amended to add it <br />Is there concern that other projects will be submitted in the area around <br />Stoneridge mall and be addressed individually? <br />■ As the zoning allows for those projects, the City will process; if Simon <br />requests more than proposed or beyond current zoning, then it would need tc <br />be added to the work plan <br />The EVC should review sales tax data for Stoneridge mall <br />A motion was made by Steve Van Dorn and seconded by Jamie Hintzke for the following <br />ranking and prioritization of the proposed projects: <br />Fiber Master Plan — A — #1 <br />JDEDZ—A—#2 <br />Expansion of Life Sciences Sector — A — #2 <br />Coordinated Business Support Program — A — #2 <br />By a vote of 3 (in favor) -9-0; the motion did not pass. <br />Angela Ramirez Holmes noted the anchor tenants at Stoneridge Shopping Center have <br />expressed interest in concurrent projects on their property, and the outer loop of Stoneridge <br />Mall Road is in a prime position for redevelopment, so the City should not wait for Simon to <br />request planning the area and the EVC should encourage the City Council to put planning of <br />the Stoneridge mall area on the work plan. City Manager Nelson Fialho indicated that the City <br />Council could add this at its mid-term review of the work plan. <br />Stoneridge Shopping Center representative Jeffrey Chen shared that Simon's proposal for the <br />renovation of the Sears building and other interior and exterior improvements would be <br />reviewed by the Planning Commission at its meeting on February 27. <br />Steve Baker remarked that the Stoneridge mall project was important but the committee <br />should be considering the work plan priorities as proactive —which the economic development <br />items are — or reactive — which the Stoneridge mall project is as there's already a process for it <br />to go through. <br />
