BACKGROUND
At the March 1, 2018 Library Commission meeting, the commissioners voted on the
following goals for 2018:
1. Continue community outreach presentations to at least one community group per
month.
2. Continue to increase our presence in the community and support various library
initiatives.
3. Continue our community outreach efforts.
These goals were reviewed in October 2018. Since establishing these goals, staff and
the Library Commission hosted presentations for Rotary groups, the Valley Real Estate
Network and Pleasanton LDS Women's group. Staff have participated in many
outreach opportunities including Kaiser's Wellness Fair, Farmer's Markets, Las Positas
College's Library Card Drive, and multiple city events such as the Community Block
Party, Alviso Adobe Fall Festival, Earth Day, and more.
DISCUSSION
During the two-year City Council priority setting process, the Library Commission voted
to recommend a strong focus on the Library and Civic Center Master Plan to the City
Council. Goals related to this priority and other library-specific policy related matters
could be considered for 2019 Library Commission goals.
Submitted by:
•
41..,k_ je}'-v
Heidi M Murphy
Director of Library and Recreation
