Pleasanton Community Concert Band Requested Funding: $7,500
Program Enhancement and Audience/ Average Recommended Funding: $7,416
Community Outreach Olympic Average (no high/low): $7,500
Tentative Votes: 5-0
This project will help to improve, and maintain our mission to provide a broad spectrum of
concert band music for the citizens of Pleasanton and other Tri-Valley communities, as well as
providing integral musical support for events presented by other Pleasanton community
organizations or the City itself. This project will also help provide the needed support for
Pleasanton Community Concert Band (PCCB) to present performances of varied, international
musical genres, which, in turn, will be part of our outreach to attract new audiences from
Pleasanton's own diverse population, and will encourage new musicians from the community to
join us. Our performances and events are often outdoors (Memorial Day, July 4th, Farmer's
Market, Pleasanton Block Party).
1. Purchasing new sheet music specifically for 2019/2020 performances and events,
2. Broadening our marketing and advertising activities for those events which are all accessible
to the general public: Brochures, programs, along with print, radio, and new media advertising
along with website upgrades.
3. Maintenance and repair of musical instruments and our travel trailer.
4. Four wireless microphones for outdoor performances to supplement our existing sound
system (thanks to previous grants!).Also funds would be used for professional sound engineer
at one or two of our major outdoor performances.
Commissioner Questions/Comments:
There were none for this program.
Staff Comments:
Last year, this organization was late with a mid-term report.
With a request of $7,500 and estimated Pleasanton residents served at 6000, the cost per
resident is $1 .25.
Pleasanton Cultural Arts Council Requested Funding: $6,200
PCAC Community & Opportunities Awareness Average Recommended Funding: $6,200
Olympic Average (no high/low): $6,200
Tentative Votes: 5-0
This project includes a strategic set of marketing, advertising, and other community outreach so
that PCAC can generate a greater awareness of PCAC's Mission, Programs, and Opportunities.
More awareness should lead to more participation from the community as audience members,
grant application, scholarship application, monetary contribution to our programs, and/or
involvement in helping with the programs we provide as PCAC and/or in collaboration with the
City, PUSD, and other Arts Organizations.
An effective marketing, branding, and community outreach program will assure that a much
greater percentage of Pleasanton citizens will become aware of who PCAC is, what we do, and
how they can benefit. This could be as a volunteer joining us, as an audience or participant in
one of our programs, as a recipient of one of our many scholarships and/or grants, and as a
Page 5 of 6
