BACKGROUND In March 2018, following a Request for Proposals process, an agreement was entered into between the City of Pleasanton and TVRT to produce two professional musicals in the Firehouse Arts Center in fiscal year 2018/19—one in the fall and one in the spring. Each production runs for eight shows with evening and matinee performances. Adult, children and senior ticket prices are offered for each show. TVRT's first Pleasanton production of Guys and Dolls closed November 18 and sold 96% of the house, generating $58,044 in ticket sales. Tickets are currently available for their second production, Smokey Joe's Café, which opens April 27. We are projecting another sell- out production. Tri-Valley Repertory Theatre is a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation—a volunteer organization dedicated to providing affordable quality theatre, theatrical training, a showcase for talent, and a cultural experience within the Tri-Valley and East Bay communities. TVRT is currently in their 35th year of providing professional quality musical theater and in their 29th year of providing a true community chorus. Attendance at their various productions exceeds 12,000 people annually. DISCUSSION The proposed First Amendment to the Services Agreement with Tri-Valley Repertory Theatre extends the contract for an additional year with the same terms. The contract will not exceed $130,000. Given the very high quality of Tri-Valley Repertory Theatre's work and their outstanding success as a local Pleasanton business for 35 years, staff recommends extending the contract for FY 2019/20.
