Presentation of commendation to Bob and Cathy Stanley for 30 years of Bob's World holiday lights extravaganza Councilmember Brown read and presented the proclamation to Bob and Cathy Stanley. 13. Public Comment Jennifer Bell, resident and fourth grade teacher at Walnut Grove Elementary School reported that her students recently screened the file, "Straws," which came through a colleague's connection with Olivia Angus, a clean water activist who is currently working towards passing an ordinance in Pleasanton to reduce use of the single use plastics. Ms. Bell advised that Jacki Nunez, founder of The Last Plastic Straw Project, recently spoke to students about the issue and in response, her students will be addressing Council with their observations, opinions and possible requests for action. Olivia Darby, student at Walnut Grove Elementary School, expressed her concern regarding single-use plastics and noted it is hurting turtles and other wildlife and will damage the Earth. Piper Cummings, student at Walnut Grove Elementary School, expressed her concern regarding single-use plastics and noted it is hurting sea animals and the environment. Mia DeMichiel, student at Walnut Grove Elementary School, recently screened the film, "Straws," and would like to see single-use plastics banned in schools, restaurants, and in other places due to pollution in the ocean. Juliette White, student at Walnut Grove Elementary School, expressed her concern for single-use plastics and noted the pollution is taking over the ocean and hurting the sea life.
