salary increases. The aggregate of all merit increases distributed will generally equal <br /> the merit increase pool. <br /> Appendix C outlines the general timeline for processing salary range, merit increase and <br /> any other compensation related adjustments. <br /> 3.3 Salary Advancement <br /> Newly appointed management or confidential employees shall be eligible for a merit <br /> increase after one year of service and on each September thereafter. Said increases <br /> shall be made based solely on performance and in accordance with the merit increase <br /> guide. <br /> 3.4 Salary Upon Promotion <br /> When a management or confidential employee is promoted, they shall be assigned a <br /> salary within the new classification salary range that is at least five percent above the <br /> salary held in their former classification. For purposes of setting salaries, incentive pay <br /> the employee received in the former classification, but lost at the time of promotion to <br /> the new class, will be considered when calculating the minimum five percent increase. <br /> The City Manager has final approval authority over all matters related to <br /> compensation. <br /> Section 4. Special Compensation <br /> 4.1 Management Bonus Programs <br /> A bonus may be granted in recognition of a management employee's specific <br /> accomplishments demonstrating exceptional and significant leadership or <br /> management related to: <br /> • Completing a significant community or organizational project or program; <br /> • Completing a major organizational change resulting in significant cost savings; <br /> or <br /> • Completing a significant improvement to customer service benefiting the <br /> Page 5 of 44 <br />
