THE CITY OF 1 0
''' III
)
-
' CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
pL£ASANTON
February 5, 2019
Library and Recreation
TITLE: APPROVE THIRD AMENDMENT TO CONTRACT WITH MONTE VISTA
MEMORIAL INVESTMENT GROUP FOR GROUNDS MAINTENANCE AND
BURIALS AT THE PLEASANTON PIONEER CEMETERY
SUMMARY
Monte Vista Memorial Investment Group (Monte Vista) was selected by the City of
Pleasanton to provide grounds maintenance and burial services for the Pleasanton
Pioneer Cemetery (Cemetery) in December 2016. At that time, the number of burials
and the grounds needs of the cemetery were unknown. Burials have far exceeded
expectations, averaging 50 per year, and grounds maintenance has also increased,
making an increase to the contract amount necessary. This amendment also extends
contractual services with Monte Vista for the third year of a contract that can be
extended for up to five years.
RECOMMENDATION
Approve the Third Amendment to the Professional Services Agreement for burial
services and grounds maintenance with Monte Vista Memorial Investment Group.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
The total contract cost for fiscal years 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 is based upon the
number of burials estimated, with a contract amount not to exceed $150,000. In fiscal
year 2017/18, the revenue received by the City for burials was $141, 843. The
Cemetery operates as an enterprise fund, with operating revenues mostly off-setting
operating expenditures. The City's General Fund provides a subsidy to the Cemetery
Fund. Cemetery revenues and expenditures are allocated in accounts 40150220-
430101 and 40250222-430101.
