BACKGROUND <br /> On July 18, 2017, City Council awarded the contract to the lowest responsible bidder, <br /> Bay Cities Paving and Grading, Inc. in the amount of$5,477,262. <br /> There were multiple Capital Improvement Projects combined under this construction <br /> contract, including the Annual Street Resurfacing Project, CIP No. 15503 & 16503; <br /> Roadway Preventative Maintenance, CIP No. 16504; Castleridge Trail and Parking <br /> Improvements on Old Foothill Road, CIP No. 17749; Old Vineyard Trail (Phase I) <br /> Improvements, CIP No. 13544; and the Bi-Annual Traffic Calming Devices Project, CIP <br /> No. 16555. <br /> The project has been completed to the City's satisfaction and is ready for City Council <br /> acceptance. <br /> DISCUSSION <br /> Annual Street Resurfacing (CIP No. 15503) <br /> This annual street resurfacing is part of the City's roadway maintenance program, and is <br /> expected to improve ride quality and extend the life of the street, thereby reducing long- <br /> term operation and maintenance costs. This project is a combination of the City's 2016 <br /> and 2017 Annual Street Resurfacing Program.
