An Acting program will be implemented on or before July 1, 2015. <br /> The use of Qualified personnel may be placed in long-term acting assignments may-be-implemented <br /> for to fill long-term vacancies that occur due to resulting from workers compensation injuries, <br /> modified duty assignments, long term sick medical leave, or other approved long-term leave <br /> absences. Long-term vacancies are defined as those lasting longer than ten (10) <br /> consecutive shifts. Once it is determined that the-a vacancy will last longer than ten£10) consecutive <br /> shifts2 an long-term acting assignment may be implemented-made to fill the vacancy prior to the <br /> eempletien-efthe tenth-1-0 shifts. <br /> Personnel fulfilling a-long-term acting assignments may be moved across shifts and will receive all <br /> the-pay and benefits of the assignment as if the employee had been position to which they are <br /> assigned as if promoted to the position. The duration e f the a A cting assignments Abe-are limited <br /> to ninety £90) calendar days if-when other eligible actors employees are available, qualified, and <br /> interested in the acting assignment. Personnel may rotate into an acting assignment more than once <br /> and for longer than ninety £90) days depending on the availability of other employees to fill the <br /> acting assignment. Personnel that who participate in an acting assignment will receive probationary <br /> credit in that-the higher classification not to exceed up to a maximum -of six (6) months, regardless <br /> of the lengthof the total combined duration of the acting assignments. Personnel who <br /> provide satisfactory service in an acting assignment for a continuous twelve (12)months of ltime <br /> . ' . - ' - ' :- are eligible for salary advancement in accordance with Section 5.4 Salcey <br /> Advancement-of this MOU for the remaining duration of the acting assignment. <br /> A--1Long-term acting assignments shall not be used for day-to-day vacancies such as those created by <br /> vacation or sick leave relief and is-are not intended to cause an adverse impact to any one rank <br /> (more than two long-term vacancies in that rank on the same division). <br /> The use of short-term acting assignments is identified in Section 7.3 D, Rank-for-Rank Overtime and <br /> Short-Term Acting Assignments. <br /> The operational procedures of acting assignments are outlined in dDepartment policy. <br /> Section 24. Resignation,Reinstatement and Layoff <br /> 24.1 Automatic Resignation <br /> Failure to return at the expiration of a leave of absence or being absent without leave shall be considered <br /> an automatic resignation. The Fire Chief may rescind such a resignation if the employee submits <br /> satisfactory reasons for his/her absence within three (3) calendar days of the date his/her resignation was <br /> effected. <br /> 24.2 Voluntary Resignation <br /> 49 <br />
