12% towards pension costs. The tentative agreement reached with IAFF
increases contributions of "Classic Members" by an additional .5% in July of 2020
for a total of 12.5%.
Medical Contributions for Active Employees:
Currently active employees pay a minimum of $25 per month towards medical
premiums. Effective in January of 2020 all active employees will pay a minimum
contribution of $50 per month for family coverage.
Paramedic License Maintenance Pay:
Currently, Firefighter Paramedics who promote to the positions of Fire Engineer
and Fire Captain are no longer required to maintain their paramedic licenses as
paramedicine is not a core function of the new ranks. However, some Firefighter
Paramedics voluntarily decide to keep and maintain their paramedic licenses and
will assist with paramedicine as appropriate. The tentative agreement allows for
compensation of $100 per month for those Firefighter Paramedics who
voluntarily keep and maintain their paramedic licenses when promoted to the
ranks of Fire Engineer and Fire Captain.
Other Changes: Agreements to language changes were also reached in many other
areas of the MOU and are operational in nature and have no cost implications. A red-
lined copy of the complete draft MOU is included for your review.
CONCLUSION
This report introduces the key elements of the successor MOU with the International
Association of Firefighters, Local 1974 representing non-management sworn fire
personnel of the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department. All agreements reached
between the parties during the meet and confer process are tentative until the contract,
in its entirety, is ratified by members of IAFF (this was completed in November) and
approved by the City Councils of both Livermore and Pleasanton. It is the City of
Pleasanton's practice to introduce the key elements of the proposed contract to allow
for open discussion prior to Council action at a future meeting.
Sub'i e• by: Fis al eview: Approvld by:
/ 1
be.ra Gill Tina Olson Nelson Fialho
Director of Human Resources/ Director of Finance City Manager
Labor Relations
Attachment:
1 .
