Robert Epperly, Stoneridge Creek resident and Chair of the Resident Council, noted that the community was in support of restriping the bridge to four lanes. He stated he had authored a letter directed to City Manager Fialho affirming the unsafe conditions on the bridge and requesting the restriping to four lanes, two in each direction. He acknowledged the group of residents from Stoneridge Creek who were present at tonight's meeting and that it has been the only issue the community has faced which had apparent unanimous agreement. In closing, he stated the bridge was built as a four-lane bridge and the two-lane striping was only temporary. He inquired as to what can be achieved by delaying the decision any further. Carolyn Pasco, Stoneridge Creek resident, expressed the safety concerns with the two-lane striping configuration. She noted drivers are adjusting their behavior to fight their way into traffic on the bridge and that it should be restriped to four lanes, as it was originally designed to accommodate. Don Ritchey, resident of Stoneridge Creek, noted he had previously served on the Danville City Council. He expressed support for the restriping to four lanes and the temporary restriction to two lanes has rendered the bridge as a safety hazard. He supports the restriping to four lanes. Bob Plemmons, resident of Stoneridge and Pleasanton, expressed concerns regarding the safety of the bridge given the current two-lane striping. He recommends the City Council approve the four lane restriping as intended in the original agreement. John Carroll stated he likely lives outside of the public hearing noticing area, and mentioned he was not officially notified of tonight's item. He expressed concern that placing this item on the consent calendar would not afford the appropriate public comment. He also stated the sister cities have met their obligations. Councilmember Pentin confirmed with Mr. Carroll that the document he signed did not make the City Council's discretion to restripe the bridge to four lanes contingent upon the sister cities' agreement. Mr. Carroll affirmed this. Mayor Thorne noted action on this item will be considered at the Council's next meeting on November 6.
