Attachment 4
Matthew Morrison
3575 Chippendale Ct., Pleasanton, CA 94588 mattmorrisonus@gmail.com
Phone: (925)413-6213 Fax: (925) 860-2743
October 23, 2018
Nelson Fialho, City Manager
City of Pleasanton
123 Main Street
Pleasanton, CA 94566
Re: Stoneridge Drive Re-striping
Dear Nelson.
I am writing on behalf of myself, and also relaying comments I received from Mark
Emerson, John Carroll and Jeff Miller of Center for Biological Divesity regarding the re-striping
of Stoneridge Drive at the bridge over Arroyo Mocho. Center for Biological Diversity, Mark
Emerson, and myself are 3 of the litigants from Safe Streets Pleasanton et al v. City of
Pleasanton et al that resulted in the Staples Ranch Policy Statement from 2010, which John
Carroll also was a signatory.
I appreciate that Councilmember Karla Brown made the effort to reach out to the persons
involved in the Staples Ranch Policy Statement, including Ralph Kanz, who formerly spoke on
behalf of Alameda Creek Alliance.
The mitigation agreement Center for Biological Diversity and Alameda Creek Alliance
signed with Alameda County pertained to riparian and endangered plant habitat, which the
County has fulfilled. Also, the 2010 Policy Statement contemplated the City Council after 2
years would have the discretion to open Stoneridge Drive to 4 lanes, so it appears the City
adhered to their obligations under the agreement.
Mark Emerson, a resident of the Stoneridge Drive neighborhood, was surprised he did not
receive an official notification. However, Mark believes based on the current traffic over the
bridge that now is the time to re-stripe the bridge to include 2 lanes in each direction. John
Carroll did receive notice and believes the City has fulfilled their duties regarding the agreement.
One final comment. The intent from a separate 2010 Policy Statement with Alameda
County is that the widening of Stoneridge Drive to 4 lanes was to coincide with widening of Jack
London Blvd. To 4 lanes. I would urge the City of Pleasanton not to lose sight of that intent.
Respectfully yours,
Matt Morrison
