BACKGROUND
The City of Pleasanton's population is approaching 80,000 within approximately 24
square miles. Within the City's boundaries weed abatement locations include:
• Roadside right-of-ways
• City owned lots
• Open space locations
• Utilities water tanks and lift stations
• City parks
The Parks Division of the Operations Services Department uses many services by
contractors to perform maintenance services that at times can be more cost effective and
beneficial than using City staff. Tree Sculpture Corporation (dba Terra Landscape) has
provided these services to meet the City's weed abatement requirements since 2015.
DISCUSSION
Tree Sculpture has provided quality and responsive service to the City in its previous
contracts for weed abatement. They have demonstrated good site supervision by
routinely monitoring designated locations and has facilitated extra work in a timely
manner with good communication. The management staff and field crews work
harmoniously with City staff when issues arise.
The project scope of this agreement consists of weed abatement landscape services at
various roadside right-of-ways, City owned lots, open space locations, utilities locations
and City parks. Weed abatement methods include herbicide application of both post and
pre-emergent herbicides, line trimming, and mowing of native grasses in drainage
swales within the City limits. Project administration is under the direction of the Parks
Maintenance Division of the Operations Services Department.
Submitted by: Fiscal Review: Approved by:
\ \\ lti
Kathleen Yurchak Tina Olson Nelson Fialho
Director of Operations and Director of Finance City Manager
Water Utilities
Attachment:
1.
