BACKGROUND
The City of Pleasanton's population is approaching 80,000 within approximately 24
square miles. Within the City's boundaries are:
• 17 Community Parks — 241 acres
• 25 Neighborhood Parks — 140 acres
• 75 acres of Median Landscape
• 11 Open Space Areas— 810 acres
• Fire Station 4 — 3.3 acres
It is not always practical or cost effective for City staff to perform certain landscape
maintenance functions that are essential to keep the City in good order. Out-sourced
contracting has been the solution when cost evaluations determine that the work can be
provided at a lower cost by contractors.
Tree Sculpture Corporation, dba Terra Landscape, has provided a comprehensive
landscape management approach to successfully achieving maintenance standards
and goals. Tree Sculpture has provided an organized and efficient approach to
performing the work in a timely manner, streamlined communications for immediate
contact with field crews, and facilitated a willingness to foster a partnership with the City
of Pleasanton to accomplish the anticipated work.
The project scope consists of litter removal, shrub and ground cover trimming, and
weed/insect control in several street median areas; the Park and Ride Lot on Johnson
Drive; Iron Horse Trail segment from Santa Rita Road to Busch Road; and the care and
replanting of the 64 Main Street Color Bowls, which will be changed out in Spring 2019
with more colorful plantings. Several of the more notable street median areas include
Sunol Boulevard, Bernal Avenue, Valley Avenue, Vineyard Avenue, West Las Positas
Boulevard, and Stanley Boulevard. Project administration is under the direction of the
Parks Maintenance Division.
Staff is requesting to enter into a second amendment to the agreement with Tree
Sculpture Corporation (dba Terra Landscape) for a nine (9) month period starting
October 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019 with a not-to-exceed amount of$395,000.
Submitted by: Fiscal Review: Approved •, :
1► IN
/k
Kathleen Yurchak Tina Olsen Ne son Fialho
Director of Operations and Director of Finance City Manager
Water Utilities
Attachment:
1.
