The entire
county was canvassed by teams of volunteers and guides with lived experience. In the weeks following the street count, a
survey was administered to 1,228 unsheltered and sheltered homeless individuals, in order to profile their experience and
characteristics.
2017 Homeless Census Population 2017 Sheltered/Unsheltered Population by City
OAKLAND UNION CITY
4,341 4,178 4,264 4,040 5,629 1859 1,902 0 40
Sheltered tsns.le,terso SheRe ed eh,
BERKELEY EMERYVILLE
308 6640 29
Shetered unsheltered Sheltered ,r,„,.,en
2009 2011 2013 2015 2017 HAYWARD NEWARK
Shelte•ed Unsheltered Sbe t
lit 84 313 * 42 28
._ .. _. _
2017 Sheltered/Unsheltered Population un,,_,rered
FREMONT DUBLIN
31 % 0 197 282 p 21
* I ** * * * * * * Unshe1tered red e.ed Sheterednsd
3,863) LIVERMORE PLEASANTON
(n
:. _. . ..
lit 102 1410 18
Shel•ered Unsnel teredlit
' fe eC unsheltered
Age ;, ,,, „„ Race/Ethnicity ALAMEDA PIEDMONT
IP"."11 ,, (Top Responses) 94 110 0 0
Under
8 It Sheltered "' ` unshelMred shettereu
Unsheltered
9% 18% 63% 10% • 49% 30% ALBANYUNINCORPORATED
Ar::
Gender ennn Sh whte 0 tered Y 66 26 Unsheltered Sbelte edk 194
unsheltered
di
Q 15% 3% SAN LEANDRO TOTAL
41% "r Amer en,Men0Icy Multi-ethnic ,a 54 5 5 1 766 3 863
Women Transgenderlit Sheltered .'
