CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY ~ CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 7.33 <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE 7 (EMPLOYEES), CHAPTER <br /> 2 (OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES) , TITLE I (ADMINISTRATION) <br /> OF THE ORDINANCE CODE OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RE- <br /> LATING TO THE CREATION OF A SAFETY COMMITTEE. <br /> <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES ORDAIN AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Section 1-3.36a (Duties of the Personnel Committee), <br />Article 7, Chapter 2, Title I of the Ordinance Code of the City of <br />Pleasanton is hereby amended by the deletion of sub--paragraph "C". <br />Section 2. Article 7, Chapter 2, Title I of the Ordinance Code <br />of the City of Pleasanton is amended by the addition of various <br />sections pertaining to a Staff Safety Committee to read as <br /> <br />follows: <br /> Section 1-3.38. purpose. of t____he~ St~a..ff .safetL committee. <br /> The purpose of the Staff Safety Committee shall be to <br /> assume overall responsibility for the City's safety <br /> program. The Staff Safety Co~nittee shall also serve <br /> as a task force for the implemention of the California <br /> Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1973. <br /> <br /> Section 1-3.39. Duties of ..St_aff Safety Committee. <br /> <br /> The Staff Safety Committee is responsible for over~ <br /> seeing a City-wide safety program. The Committee <br /> shall undertake such projects which will carry out <br /> its responsibility, including, but not limited to: <br /> <br /> 1. Inventory existing hazards either mechanical or <br /> procedural which violate the Occupational Safety <br /> and Health Act. <br /> <br /> 2. Based upon said inventory, develop a work pro- <br /> gram to eliminate safety deficiencies. <br /> <br /> 3. Review and bring current the City~s safety manual. <br /> <br /> 4. Develop a more comprehensive safety education <br /> program for City employees <br /> <br /> Section 1-3.40. Composition of Staff .Safe_ty committee. <br /> <br /> The Staff Safety Committee shall be composed of the <br /> following personnel: <br /> <br /> 1. Assistant to the City Manager (Personnel) <br /> <br /> 2. Director of Field Services <br /> <br /> <br />
