CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON ALAMEDA COUNTY ~ CALIFORNIA ORDINANCE NO. 7.33 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE 7 (EMPLOYEES), CHAPTER 2 (OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES) , TITLE I (ADMINISTRATION) OF THE ORDINANCE CODE OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RE- LATING TO THE CREATION OF A SAFETY COMMITTEE. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 1-3.36a (Duties of the Personnel Committee), Article 7, Chapter 2, Title I of the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton is hereby amended by the deletion of sub--paragraph "C". Section 2. Article 7, Chapter 2, Title I of the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton is amended by the addition of various sections pertaining to a Staff Safety Committee to read as follows: Section 1-3.38. purpose. of t____he~ St~a..ff .safetL committee. The purpose of the Staff Safety Committee shall be to assume overall responsibility for the City's safety program. The Staff Safety Co~nittee shall also serve as a task force for the implemention of the California Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1973. Section 1-3.39. Duties of ..St_aff Safety Committee. The Staff Safety Committee is responsible for over~ seeing a City-wide safety program. The Committee shall undertake such projects which will carry out its responsibility, including, but not limited to: 1. Inventory existing hazards either mechanical or procedural which violate the Occupational Safety and Health Act. 2. Based upon said inventory, develop a work pro- gram to eliminate safety deficiencies. 3. Review and bring current the City~s safety manual. 4. Develop a more comprehensive safety education program for City employees Section 1-3.40. Composition of Staff .Safe_ty committee. The Staff Safety Committee shall be composed of the following personnel: 1. Assistant to the City Manager (Personnel) 2. Director of Field Services
