Councilmember Brown extended her appreciation to PGS for their partnership and community <br /> participation. She mentioned their consistent service, the new bulky-item pick-up and their technical <br /> assistance with various sorting services. <br /> Mayor Thorne noted his appreciation related to oil, battery, and fluorescent waste. <br /> Councilmember Olson stated he would reluctantly vote for approval as he had concerns PGS did not <br /> have enough time to fully evaluate the new rates. <br /> MOTION: It was m/s by Pentin/Brown to waive full reading and adopt Resolution No. 18-1038 <br /> adopting rates for solid waste, recyclable materials, and organic materials collection services noted in <br /> Alternative 1, reducing the spread between 35-gallon and 96-gallon cart costs, include the meet-and- <br /> confer requirement at six and twelve months into the contract, and direct staff to evaluate the reduction <br /> of costs for the 96-gallon cart by the difference the 35-gallon cart is increasing. Motion passed by the <br /> following vote: <br /> Ayes: Councilmembers Brown, Narum, Olson, Pentin, Mayor Thorne <br /> Noes: None <br /> Absent: None <br /> CLOSED SESSION • <br /> The meeting adjourned to closed session at 7:55 p.m. to address the following items: <br /> a. Conference with Labor Negotiators pursuant to Government Code §54957.6: <br /> Agency representatives: Nelson Fialho, Debra Gill and Bruce Heid, IEDA <br /> Employee organization: International Association of Firefighters Local 1974 <br /> b. Conference with Legal Counsel — Existing Litigation pursuant to Government Code §54956.9: <br /> Pleasanton Citizens for Responsible Growth v. City of Pleasanton, Costco Wholesale Corp., <br /> Alameda County Superior Court Case No. RG17884335 <br /> The meeting reconvened open session at 7:45 with all members except Mayor Thorne.
