Section 4. ADOPTION OF THE 1973 EDITION OF THE UNIFORM PLUMBING CODE BY REFERENCE. The Uniform Plumbing Code, 1973 Edition, published by the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials, 5032 Alhambra Avenue, Los Angeles, California 90032, with the changes, additions and deletions set forth in Section 5 of this Ordinance is adopted by reference. There are three (3) copies of this Uniform Code on file in the office of the City Clerk for use and examination by the public. Section 2-13.27, Article 1, Chapter 5, Title II of the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleas- anton is amended accordingly. Section 5. AMENDMENTS, MODIFICATIONS, ADDITIONS TO AND DELETIONS FROM THE 1973 EDITION OF THE UNIFORM PLUMBING CODE. Section 2-13.28, Article 1 (Adoption of Uniform Plumbing iiCode with Deletions and Modifications), Chapter 5 (Plumbing Code), Title II (Zoning and Development) of the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton is amended to read as follows: "a. Amendments or Modifications 1. Whenever in the Adopted Code the words "Adminis- trative Authority" or "Assistants" are used, they shall mean the Director of Housing and Community Development of the City of Pleasanton or his agent. 2.Section 1008(c) is amended to read as follows: 'Water piping installed in or under a concrete slab resting on the ground and ferrous water piping installed underground in any location shall be installed in accordance with the fol ii lowing requirements: ~ (a) Ferrous water piping shall have protective ii coating of an approved type, machine applied and conforming to recognized standards. Field · wrapping or coating may be permitted by the ~ administrative authority if equivalent pro-~. tection is provided.~ Zinc coating (galvan-- ising) shall not be deemed adequate protection for piping or fittings. (b) Copper tubing shall be installed without joints where possible. Where joints are permitted, they shall be silver brazed or equal and fittings shall be wrought copper.' -4-
