CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY~ CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 718 <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE 3 (SALES AND USE TAX), <br /> CHAPTER 3 (REVENUE AND TAXATION), TITLE I (ADMINISTRATION) <br /> OF THE ORDINANCE CODE OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RELATING <br /> TO A UNIFORM SALES AND USE TAX TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE <br />i~ STATE BOARD OF EQUALIZATION. <br /> !THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 1. Article 3~ Chapter 3, Title I of the Ordinance <br /> <br />~Code of the City of Pleasanton is amended in its entirety to read <br />ii as follows: <br />!! Article 3 <br /> <br /> Sales and Use Tax <br /> <br /> 1~6.14 Short Title. This ordinance shall be known as the <br /> Uniform Loc~lf='~ and Use Tax Ordinance. <br /> <br /> 1.-6.15 Rate. The rate of sales tax and use tax imposed by <br /> this ord~'a~ce shall be .95 percent. <br /> <br /> 1-6.16 O~_erative Date. This ordinance shall be operative on <br /> January 1 ~'I'~7 ' <br /> <br /> 1-6.17 Purpose. The City Council hereby declares that this <br /> ordinanc~'~"~opted to achieve the following~ among other, <br /> purposes~ and directs that the provisions hereof be inter- <br /> preted in order to accomplish those purposes: <br /> <br /> a. To adopt a sales and use tax ordinance which complies <br /> with the requirements and limitations contained in <br /> Part 1.5 of Division 2 of the Revenue and Taxation Code~ <br /> <br /> b. To adopt a sales and use tax ordinance which incorpor- <br /> ates provisions identical to those of the Sales and <br /> Use Tax Law of the State of California insofar as those <br /> provisions are not inconsistent with the requirements <br /> and limitations contained in Part 1.5 of Division 2 of <br /> the Revenue and Taxation Code; <br /> <br /> c. To adopt a sales and use tax ordinance which imposes a <br /> tax and provides a measure therefor that can be admin- <br /> istered and collected by the State Board of Equalization <br /> in a manner that adapts itself as fully as practicable <br /> to~ and require~ the least possible deviation from the <br /> existing statutory and administrative procedures fol-- <br /> lowed by the State Board of Equalization in adminis- <br /> tering and collecting the California State Sales and <br /> Use Taxes <br /> <br /> d. To adopt a sales and use tax ordinance which can be <br /> administered in a manner that will~ to the degree pos- <br /> sible consistent with the provisions of Part 1.5 of <br /> Division 2 of the Revenue and Taxation Code~ minimize <br /> <br /> <br />
