ORDINANCE NO. 2180 <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> ADDING CHAPTER 11.58 TO TITLE 11 OF THE PLEASANTON MUNICIPAL <br /> CODE RELATING TO THE REGULATION OF TRAFFIC MEDIANS <br /> WHEREAS, The City Council desires to add a new chapter to the Pleasanton Municipal <br /> Code to promote the health and welfare of pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists, and others who use <br /> the City's public right-of-ways. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES <br /> HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> SECTION 1. The City Council makes the findings and declarations contained in <br /> Attachment A to this Ordinance. <br /> SECTION 2. A new chapter 11.58 is added to Title 11 of the Pleasanton Municipal Code <br /> to be numbered and to read as follows: <br /> Chapter 11.58 <br /> Regulation of Traffic Medians <br /> 11.58.010 Purpose. <br /> Lingering and loitering on medians and corner islands reduces the safety of intersections for <br /> pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists. This is especially true when people linger or loiter on narrow <br /> medians, as well as medians and corner islands located in high-volume intersections. The <br /> purpose of this chapter is to protect the health and welfare of pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists, <br /> and others who use the City's public right-of—ways. <br /> 11.58.020 Definitions. <br /> For purposes of this Chapter, the terms listed below shall have the following meaning: <br /> A. "Corner island" or"pork chop island" means a traffic island that separates right turn <br /> movements from through movements. <br /> B. "High-volume intersection" means an intersection carrying over 30,000 vehicles <br /> per day and includes the following intersections: <br /> 1. Hopyard Road and Interstate 580 West Bound Ramp <br /> 2. Santa Rita Road and West Las Positas Boulevard <br /> 3. Hopyard Road and Interstate 580 West Bound Ramp <br /> 4. Hopyard Road and Owens Drive <br /> 5. Santa Rita Road and Stoneridge Drive <br />
