Attachment 3
THE CITY OF
 -- m O PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION
pLEASANTON© AGENDA REPORT
April 12, 2018
Item 4
TITLE: APPROVAL OF THE COMMUNITY FARM DRAFT MASTER PLAN
SUMMARY
At the November 9, 2017 regular meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission
(Commission), the Commission reviewed the conceptual master plan for the Pleasanton
Community Farm Master Plan (Master Plan). The conceptual master plan was developed from
information included in the Bernal Specific Plan, Phase II, concepts and comments discussed at
previous Commission meetings, outcomes from the August 21, 2017 neighborhood meeting,
and previous work related to developing a Pleasanton Community Farm. Preparation of the
Master Plan is a current City Council priority and is funded in the City's Capital Improvement
Program.
Since your November 9, 2017 meeting, staff has worked closely with the project architect, MD
Fotheringham Landscape Architects, Inc., (MD Fotheringham) to further the Master Plan to meet
program goals and objectives as defined in the Conceptual Master Plan and the Bernal Specific
Plan, Phase II. As an outcome of this effort, MD Fotheringham and staff have completed the
Draft Master Plan and it is being presented for Commission for review, comment and approval.
If approved by the Commission, the Draft Master Plan will be forwarded to the City Council with
a recommendation for adoption. Staff will forward Commission Draft Master Plan comments
and recommendations to the City Council.
The Community Farm Master Plan is included as Attachment 1 to this report and MD
Fotheringham will present an overview of the Draft Master Plan at this meeting.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Parks and Recreation Commission approve the Community Farm
Draft Master Plan and recommend that it be adopted by the City Council. If the Commission has
specific comments and or amendments, these will be forwarded to the City Council for its
consideration.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
There is no direct financial impact as a result of Draft Master Plan approval. If adopted by the
City Council, staff anticipates developing more specific financing, construction, and operating
information that will detail overall development and operations cost.
