Ellie and Mark Gunderson reported his family enjoys the nearby park and expressed concerns regarding crossing the street in the area. He stated it is a dangerous situation and urged Council to consider the safety of the community and approve the plan. Jeff Musgrove reported he uses that road all the time and agreed it is dangerous. He stated he would not want to live anywhere where there is only one way in and one way out, complained about chaos in all neighborhoods and expressed concerns with adding travel time to his commute. He added it is an inconvenience, but felt it is a good compromise. Orson Leong spoke in favor of the approval of the revised Laurel Creek Traffic Calming Plan noting he has seen numerous cars racing on the roads. He acknowledged there will an inconvenience, but felt this is the best plan, so far. The benefits far outweigh the inconvenience to drivers. Hien Alten reported she is not affected by the plan but spoke in support of it. She noted she set aside her inconvenience to support public safety. Guy Houston complimented staff for the plan, reported he doesn't live in the area, but is developing property nearby. He expressed concerns with people speeding in the area and stated he sees it as an enforcement issue and will not solve the speeding but will solve the access. He asked Council to consider reviewing the issue in the future to determine if it is working as it should. Shawn Monfared reported he lives in the neighborhood and stated he has seen several accidents in the area. He stated they are scared for their lives because of speeding cars on the street and asked Council to approve the plan and consider installing a gate. Mehrdad Ziari stated residents have legitimate concerns and felt a compromise could be reached. He did not see any harm in having non-residents making a left hand turn on the street and felt no measure will be 100% effective. He opined partial closure may be more than what is needed. Kathy Havirchin reported the community was peaceful when she first moved in but noted increases in traffic and speeding. The plan would be an inconvenience for her, but she would accept it for improved public safety. Gurbachan Virk shared his experience living and walking in the area and acknowledged speeding cars on the streets. He believed people speeding there do not live in that neighborhood and noted they are disrespectful. He acknowledged he will be inconvenienced but accepts it to improve public safety in the area. Ernest Tsui thanked Council and staff and spoke in support of the plan. He shared his experience with speeding cars in the area and felt any delays in traffic are insignificant. Joanna Lee expressed concern with access and traffic delays and stated she will be forced to give up her individual property (time), for someone else's values and perspectives. She believed there is a conflict of interest and stated it was first a speeding issue that has turned into an access issue. Mayor Thorne closed public comment. In response to Mayor Thorne, Mr. Tassano reported no one should speed on those streets. Councilmember Pentin stated the left turn in does not seem as onerous as the left turn out.
