Consider Recommendation to Allocate Housing and Human Services Grant <br /> (HHSC) Funds for Fiscal Year 2018/19 <br /> Mr. Ingram reviewed a PowerPoint presentation on the Housing and Human Services Grants <br /> Process and provided information about the Brown Rules. <br /> Commissioners were advised that approximately $448,213 would be available for FY 2018/19 <br /> funding recommendations, with approximately $206,379 being provided from the General <br /> Fund, and a projected $241,781 from federal CDBG funds. A total of 28 applications have <br /> been received for a total funding request of $1,154,575. Most public services projects have <br /> applied and received funds prior, and three applicants requesting funding did not apply for <br /> funds last year. Mr. Ingram commented on addressing local service gaps and projects not <br /> being recommended for funding. He asked Commissioners to consider whether <br /> programs/projects address core safety services or identify service gaps when making their <br /> funding recommendations. <br /> Mr. Hernandez commented on agencies and their projects to be considered for funding by the <br /> Housing Commission, advising that funding for these projects would come from federal HOME <br /> funds and funds from the Lower Income Housing Fund (LIHF). He provided information about <br /> the Abode Services Rapid Rehousing and Outreach projects and the counseling services <br /> provided by ECHO Housing. Additionally, Mr. Hernandez commented on the services <br /> provided to Pleasanton residents by Habitat for Humanity. <br /> Chairperson Hayes opened the meeting for requested agency presentations at 6:18 p.m. <br /> Axis Community Health, Sue Compton - Phase 2 of Capital Project for Dental Services — <br /> commented on the lack of dental care in the Tri-Valley and the mission to provide such a <br /> service as soon as possible. She advised that Axis is looking for a suitable site, because their <br /> current space is already at capacity. Ms. Compton advised that Axis received $175,000 from <br /> the three tri-valley cities for FY 2017/18, but anticipate the project is going to require about <br /> $3M. A Needs Assessment has been conducted that determines approximately six (6) dental <br /> chairs will be needed, but nine (9) would be better. She discussed issues with finding <br /> appropriate real estate but advised that they are looking at two properties that may be viable <br /> Human Services Commission <br /> March 7, 2018 <br /> Page 1 <br />
