Don Sherratt spoke in support of PCRT and noted he is the father of Joy Sherratt who is the <br /> Artistic Director of PCRT. The City requested a young and vital company to provide three <br /> performances at the Firehouse Theatre which PRCT has provided. PCRT now has the required <br /> "home-base" and has placed Pleasanton on the map for performances. He commented about his <br /> involvement in the community and how Ms. Sherratt is a resident and also participates in the <br /> community. He stated the Commission's vote was misrepresented by staff, and was actually 4 — <br /> 2. He requested the City Council table the decision and requested a compromise by giving both <br /> organizations a "win-win" if the staff can restart the RFQ process. <br /> Deborah Lagin spoke in support of TVRT and her experience as a young performer. She moved <br /> from camper, to intern, to Co-Director throughout her history with the organization. She learned <br /> about theatre production even though only in high school. The skills she learned at TVRT allowed <br /> her to pursue a professional career in theatre. She supports the selection of TVRT for the one- <br /> year opportunity at the Firehouse Theatre. <br /> Joan Brown noted she is the Vice-President of TVRT and thanked the Commission for their <br /> recommendation. They are excited to come back to Pleasanton and noted the company has been <br /> located in the City for its entire existence. They are solvent without any government or City- <br /> assistance, they have a great reputation and are producing quality shows. They are already part <br /> of the Pleasanton arts community. They create a supportive learning environment and she <br /> commented on the economics of their proposal. She provided letters of support from over 70 <br /> supporters of their company. She requested approval of staff's recommendation. <br /> Councilmember Brown inquired regarding TVRT's location post-2020. Ms. Brown affirmed the <br /> company is planning to stay in Pleasanton with no plans of changing location. She also confirmed <br /> TVRT has a commitment with the Bankhead Theatre for two shows in the upcoming season and <br /> they could work with staff to potentially place a third performance at the Firehouse. <br /> Kendall Tieck spoke regarding his four decades working in the theatre and has directed two <br /> productions for TVRT. Their support for him and the local arts is unparalleled. He urges the City <br /> Council to accept this agreement. He noted equity and non-equity actors in the local area are <br /> exceptional. <br /> Debbie Gluckman, TVRT Board President, and noted her son's involvement in the organization. <br /> He is now attending advanced theatre training due to his experience with TVRT. They are a <br /> Pleasanton-based company, having performed in many of the local venues, are solvent and have <br /> an excellent reputation for quality shows. She enumerated their outreach and special programs. <br /> They are aligned with the Commission and City of Pleasanton's mission and goals. Community <br /> members have received theatrical and vocal training from TVRT. <br /> Marisa Cozart stated her work as a theatre performer in the Bay area and has worked with TVRT <br /> on several occasions. As an actor, she notes many actors have limited control over where they <br /> are contracted and she is excited to be able to work and live in the same area. She has chosen to <br /> work with TVRT as they are conscientious and meticulous about their shows. The actors are <br /> treated professionally and with mutual collaboration. There are props available during the <br /> rehearsal process and from an audience perspective, the quality of their performances is <br /> exceptional. <br /> Bob Weiss stated he was a CEO/President of a local business and is a resident. He has been a <br /> member and supporter of TVRT for over 30 years, and has a long history of bringing friends and <br /> relatives to performances. The actors are terrific and choreography and sets are exceptional. He <br /> correlates TVRT's performances with the quality he has seen on Broadway and overseas.
