Public Hearing: Waived full and adopted Resolution No. 18-1001 approving the Citizens' <br /> Options for Public Safety program (COPS) Year 21 appropriation <br /> MOTION: It was m/s Olson/Narum by to approve the Consent Calendar as submitted and as <br /> noted. Motion passed by the following vote: <br /> Ayes: Councilmembers Brown, Narum, Olson, Pentin, Mayor Thorne <br /> Noes: None <br /> Absent: None <br /> Recused: Thorne (Item 2) <br /> MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> 19. Public Comment <br /> Nancy Harrington spoke regarding the Rotary International "End Polio Now" Campaign occurring <br /> March 1, 2018 through April 30, 2018. She reported polio has been reduced by 99% since 1988 <br /> and noted it can be eradicated, completely. She addressed the organization's goals for <br /> fundraising and encouraged the public to donate. <br /> Stacey Sklar, Amador Valley High School, commented on the importance of civic education and <br /> on the success of Pleasanton's "We the People" Program. She thanked Council for its help in <br /> securing the Firehouse for their first fundraiser and for continuing to support the teams. <br /> Jeremy Detamore, Foothill High School, thanked Council for its continued support and provided <br /> information on the program. <br /> Andreas Maass, Amador High School, "We the People" Team Member, shared his experience in <br /> the program and thanked Council for its support. <br /> Rithu Gurazada, Foothill High School, "We the People" Team Member, spoke about how the <br /> program taught her how to function, as an individual, in the community and how to be tolerant and <br /> accepting other opinions. She thanked Council for its continued support. <br /> In response to Council Member Pentin's inquiry, Ms. Sklar reported the joint fundraiser will be <br /> held on March 29, 2018, at 6:00 P.M. at the Firehouse Art Center. <br /> PUBLIC HEARINGS AND OTHER MATTERS <br /> 20. Accept the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) and other related audits for the year <br /> ending June 30, 2017 <br /> Director of Finance Tina Olson presented details of the report and displayed a PowerPoint <br /> presentaion addressing the FY 2016/17 CAFR, Contents of the FY 2016/17 CAFR, Net Position, <br /> Pension Liabilities as of June 30, 2017, Total Pension Related Liabilities, Highlights of the City's <br /> Financial Statements relative to Governmental Funds, Enterprise Funds Current Available <br /> Resources, Internal Service Funds, Outstanding Debt, Proposed Change in Governmental <br /> Accounting and Reporting relative to OPEB Liability, and Auditor's Comments to Management. <br /> Councilmember Brown stated she was proud to be on the Audit Committee with Councilmember <br /> Olson and reported she has read CaIPERS is looking to adjust their payoff from thirty-year, to <br /> City Council Minutes Page 3 of 7 February 20, 2018 <br />
