BACKGROUND
On June 7, 2016, Council awarded the Automated Meter Infrastructure (AMI) contract to
Delta Engineering Sales, LLC. in the amount of $7,181,782. On May 2, 2017, the City
Council authorized an amendment to the contract in the amount of $950,000, increasing
the total contract value to $8,131,782. The completion of the AMI project has alleviated
the need for bi-monthly manual water meter reading and provides automated water
consumption data points for the project water meters. Project completion was accepted
by Council on December 19, 2017, however, the retention payment to Delta
Engineering Sales, LLC was inadvertently omitted from the project closing process.
DISCUSSION
The AMI project replaced or retrofitted every water meter under the control of the
Pleasanton Water Utilities with the exception of Kilkare Canyon, which is
geographically/topographically incompatible with this technology, and Castlewood,
which is being replaced under a separate project with Alameda County, with Aclara
MTUs and composite meter box lids. The project included the replacement of 21,192
water meters with the latest non-mechanical meter technologies from Diehl Metering,
Kampstrup, and Elster, and the retrofitting of 581 existing newer mechanical meters, for
a total of 21,773 AMI compatible meters.
Budget
The final retention release invoice in the amount of $73,919.28 in Attachment 1 to this
report, will be deducted from the remaining available project budget balance of
$186,294.43 with the resulting balance of $112,375.15 to be returned to the Water
Enterprise Fund.
Submitted by: Fiscal Review: Approved y:
//IV
Kathleen Yurchak Tina Olson Nelson Fialho
Director of Operations Director of Finance City Manager
and Water Utilities
Attachment:
1.
