Karen Gonzales SVPF IES , . ENTAL MATERIAL
Provided to the City iltrom: Pleasanton City Clerk After Distribution of Packet
ubject: Owens Drive
Date I (O
From:Craig Lanway
Sent:Tuesday,January 16, 2018 12:21 PM
To: Mayor and City Council
Subject:Owens Drive
Dear Mayor and Council Members,
In anticipation of the Owens Drive issue coming up at this evening's City Council meeting I spent a few minutes looking
at the ground floor of the apartment building where it was explained at one or more past Council meeting that the space
was to be used for retail. That was the rationale for the parking in front of the structure and the reduction of the
eastbound lanes to one.As of this morning there is no evidence of any retail space either in operation or in
construction. In fact it appeared as I walked past the ground level units on both Owens Drive and Willow Road that a
few of the units may be occupied but not by retail.
From reading the engineering report that is part of the agenda for tonight's Council meeting I am certain that this issue
is largely past in the Council's mind and there will be no widening of Owens in the near future. As a resident and
homeowner in Pleasanton since 1983 I think this is one of the most misguided changes to traffic, bicycle and pedestrian
fety I've witnessed. However, if any of you are interested in reading an excellent opinion piece on this subject, please
fer to a short article in the January 16th Nextdoor.com.
Craig Lanway
Pleasanton,CA 94588
Share a Gift of Kindness
Click here to report this email as spam.
•
1
