All parking area layouts for the project area shall <br /> comply with City parking development standards. <br /> • Parking areas should be designed to: <br /> • Provide safe and convenient movement of motor vehicles <br /> • Limit vehicular/pedestrian conflicts <br /> • Limit paved areas <br /> • Provide for screening of paved areas <br /> • Soften the visual impact of parking areas by providing interior planting <br /> • Where opportunities exist for shared parking between users with staggered peak <br /> parking demands, owners and developers shall make every possible effort to take <br /> advantage of this opportunity to reduce the total number of parking spaces within <br /> each site or parcel. Where shared parking is intended, the analysis of parking criteria <br /> shall be submitted to the City as part of the design review process. <br /> • Compact car parking requirements shall conform to City requirements. Up to 40 <br /> percent of the required off-street parking spaces may be compact. <br /> • Parking structures are allowed but must be architecturally compatible with proposed <br /> buildings and the material finish must be the same as, or architecturally <br /> complimentary to, the exterior of buildings on the site. Placement of parking <br /> structures along site frontages is discouraged. <br /> • Accessible parking spaces and location shall conform to the latest Americans with <br /> Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements in addition to the City's accessible parking space <br /> requirements. In case of conflict, the more restrictive provisions shall govern. <br /> • Each project shall provide motorcycle parking to the satisfaction of the Director of <br /> Community Development. Motorcycle parking should be consolidated and <br /> segregated from automobile parking and must have concrete pavement surfaces to <br /> support motorcycle kickstands. Motorcycle stalls should be a minimum of 4 feet by 8 <br /> feet and clearly marked. <br /> • Bicycle parking is required for each project to the satisfaction of the Director of <br /> Community Development. Appropriate bike rack hardware shall be provided for each <br /> stall and approved by the City prior to installation. Bicycle parking shall be located <br /> near building entries. <br /> • Alternative vehicle parking is required for each project to the satisfaction of the <br /> Director of Community Development. Alternative vehicle parking shall be designed <br /> to meet City standards. <br />
