CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON ALAI~EDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA ORDINANCE NO. 664 i' AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE 2 OF CHAPTER 6 OF TITLE V RELATING TO DECREASES IN THE PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMITS ' ON CERTAIN STREETS WITHIN THE CITY OF PLEASANTON iiTHE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS ]FOLLOWS: I. On the basis of engineering and traffic investigations with respect thereto, there is hereby added to the traffic regulations of the City of Pleasanton the following regulations relating to ]~speed limits on the following streets within the City of Pleasanton: Section ~5-6.05 of Article 2 of Chapter 6 of Title V is hereby amended by the addition thereto of subsections "J" and "K" relat- e! ing to decreases in speed limits on Hopyard Road: i! "J. Hopyard Road. On Hopyard Road from the north end of the ~, Del Valle Bridge to Valley Trails Drive north, the speed ~ limit shall be 35 miles per hour i~ K. Hopyard Road. On Hopyard Road from Valley Trails Drive ~i north to Stoneridge, the speed limit shall be 45 miles ~ per hour ~I This ordinance shall be published once within fifteen days after ~i its adoption in the "TIMES", a newspaper of general circulation published in the City of Pleasanton and shall become effective immediately upon its adoption in order to protect the health, safety and welfare of the residents of the City of Pleasanton in that immediate reduction of the speed limit on Hopyard Road is ~i necessary to minimize the risk of vehicular and pedestrian traffic accidents attributable to increasingly heavy use of said road, provided further, however, that the provisions hereof shall not become operative until appropriate signs are erected and maintained at appropriate places on the hereinabove described portions of the hereinabove described street providing notice hereof.
