She <br />commented positively on the increase in results relative to the DARE program, and suggested <br />including the school district, next time, to allow them to include questions. She commended staff <br />on their efforts and work. <br />Councilmember Brown was pleased police and fire continue to be highly rated, commented <br />positively on 82% of parents agreeing Pleasanton is a good place to raise their children, and <br />commented on growth, development, traffic and streets. She reported development allows for the <br />City to invest back into its infrastructure which would aid in mitigating traffic issues. Additionally, <br />she was pleased that 92% of residents like the City's small-town character and addressed <br />providing goods and services that cannot be purchased today, in Pleasanton, adding that 63% are <br />in favor of providing goods and services that are not currently in the City. She referenced <br />comments by John Butera, and reported the City's library is a "heck of a place" for the public to <br />go. She reported it is one of the busiest buildings in town, and invited Mr. Butera to visit it. She <br />commented on CalPers unfunded liabilities and noted everyone works hard to provide a fiscally - <br />sound city. <br />Councilmember Pentin commented positively on the survey results, commended City staff and <br />appreciated the metrics generated. He noted any city would be happy to have a survey like the <br />one presented. <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL <br />Mayor Thorne recommended and Council supported a letter to Zone 7 asking them to continue their <br />transparency through Channel 30. <br />Mayor Thorne reported the Governor signed a bill giving Pleasanton authority over extending BART. <br />Councilmember Pentin reported the Governor voted SB 649, the cell tower bill, and stated that is a win <br />for local control and government. <br />Councilmember Brown reported the City responded to the draft Environmental Impact Report for <br />extending BART to Livermore and discussed connectivity to other transportation vehicles. <br />Mayor Thorne thanked Fire and Police personnel for their work on the recent Santa Rosa fires. <br />COUNCIL REPORTS — None <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:31 p.m. The Council extended a <br />tribute to our nation's men and women serving in the military.
