BACKGROUND SB 1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017, was passed by the Legislature and signed into law by the Governor in April 2017 in order to address the significant multi-modal transportation funding shortfalls statewide. The City must pass a resolution that includes a list of all projects proposed to be funded from the RMRA. The list must include a description and the location of each proposed project, a proposed schedule for the project's completion, and an estimate of the useful life of the improvements. DISCUSSION The City programed SB 1 funding into the 2017/18 Streets CIP under Annual Resurfacing and Reconstruction of Various Streets, CIP No. 17503. The project will resurface various streets throughout the City in the summer of 2018, including but not limited to: Main Street/Santa Rita (from Bernal Avenue to Amador High School); Foothill Road (from 1-580 to Muirwood); Muirwood Drive North (from Foothill to W. Las Positas) and various courts off Muirwood; Johnson Drive (from Owens Drive to Commerce Drive); Stoneridge Drive around Gibraltar; various streets in County Fair Estates, off of Paseo Santa Cruz (north); and various streets in Val Vista, off of Single Tree, Payne, Alvord, and Inglewood. The project will be completed by the fall of 2018. The resurfacing treatments will extend the useful life of the treated roadway an additional 10 to 15 years. SB 1 funding and overall investment in our local streets and roads infrastructure with a focus on basic maintenance and safety, investing in complete streets infrastructure, and using cutting-edge technology, materials and practices, will have significant positive benefits statewide.
