Section 1900.4.4 of the Califomia Building Standards Code 1998 Edition, (24 C.C.R.), and <br />including by reference the Uniform Building Code, 1997 Edition, Parts 1, 2 and 3 is amended to <br />read as follows: <br /> <br />Minimum slab thickness. The minimum thickness of concrete floor slabs supported directly on <br />the ground shall not be less than 3 1/2 inches (89mm). The slab shall be reinforced with not less <br />than six inches by six inches ten gauge welded wire mesh or an approved alternate installed at <br />mid height of the slab. <br /> <br />20.08.056 Section 2211 amended Design Methods <br /> <br />Section 2211 of the Califomia Building Standards Code 1998 Edition, (24 C.C.R.), and including <br />by reference the Uniform Building Code 1997 Edition, Parts 1, 2 and 3 is amended to read as <br />follows: <br /> <br />Section 2211. Design Methods. When the load combinations from Section 1612.2 for LRFD are <br />used, structural steel buildings shall be designed in accordance with Chapter 22 Division II <br />(AISC-LRFD) and Part I of AISC-Seismic as modified by this Division. <br /> <br />When the load combinations from Section 1612.3 for ASD are used, structural steel buildings <br />shall be designed in accordance with Chapter 22 Division III (AISC-ASD) and Part III of AISC <br />Seismic as modified by this Division. <br /> <br />20.08.057 - Amended - Section 2513.1 Shear-Resisting construction with wood Frame. <br /> <br />Section 2513.1 of the Califomia Building Standards Code 1998 Edition, (24 C.C.R.), and <br />including by reference the Uniform Building Code, 1997 Edition, Parts 1, 2 and 3 is amended to <br />read as follows: <br /> <br />General. Cement plaster, gypsum lath and plaster, gypsum veneer base, gypsum sheathing board, <br />and gypsum wallboard may be used, on wood studs for vertical diaphragms if applied in <br />accordance with this section. Shear-resisting values shall not exceed those set forth in Table 25 - <br />I. The effects of overtuming on vertical diaphragms shall be investigated in accordance with <br />Section 1605.2.2. <br /> <br />Cement plaster, gypsum lath and plaster, gypsum veneer base, gypsum sheathing board, and <br />gypsum wallboard shall not be used as vertical or horizontal diaphragms in Siesmic Zone 4 <br />where the near fault factor exceeds 1.0.
