20.08.050 Section 1503 amended- Roof-Covering Requirements. <br /> <br /> Section 1503 of the Uniform Building Code is amended to read as follows: <br /> <br /> Roof-Covering Requirements. <br /> The roof covering on any structure regulated by this Code shall be as specified in Table <br /> 15-A and as classified in Section 1504. The roof-covering assembly includes the roof deck, <br /> underlayment, interlayment, insulation and covering which is assigned a roof-covering <br /> classification. <br /> <br /> Notwithstanding other sections of this Code the following roof covering requirements <br /> shall apply in the City. <br /> <br />Fire retardancy, when required. All roof coverings on all structures shall have a <br />minimum of a Class A roofing assembly. <br /> <br />Exceptions: Buildings of III, IV and V construction which are not located in Hazard Areas, <br />where it may be one of the following: <br /> <br />1. Class C rated roof covering may be installed on buildings of Group R, Division 3 <br />occupancy. <br /> <br />2. Class C rated roof coverings may be installed on buildings of Group U division 1 <br />occupancies of less than 1,000 square feet in projected roof area. <br /> <br />3. Class C rated roof coverings may be installed on buildings of Group R Division I <br />(apartment, condominium or congregate residences only) Occupancies which are not more than <br />two stories in height and have not more than 3,000 square feet of projected roof area, and where <br />there is a minimum of 10 feet from the extremity of the roof to the property line on all sides <br />except street fronts. <br /> <br />Regardless of the classification rating, wood product roof covering materials shall not be <br />permitted or installed in the City of Pleasanton. <br /> <br />Exception. Existing Group R Division 3, and Group U Division 1, structures with wood product <br />roofs may be reroofed with wood product coverings under the following conditions: <br /> <br />1. When the reroo~ng material applied is pressure fire treated. Fire treated material must be <br />in accordance with approved national standards; and <br /> <br />2. The reroofing is installed as a class B assembly as defined by Uniform Building Standard <br />15-2. <br /> <br /> 33 <br /> <br /> <br />
