Multipurpose Piping Systems <br /> <br />Piping systems within dwellings and mobile homes intended to serve both domestic and fire <br />protection needs. <br /> <br />Pre-engineered System <br /> <br />A packaged sprinkler system including all components connected to the water supply designed <br />to be installed according to pre-tested limitations. <br /> <br />Pump <br /> <br />*A mechanical device that transfers and/or raises the pressure of a fluid (water). <br /> <br />Residential Sprinkler <br /> <br />An automatic fire sprinkler which has been specifically listed for use in residential occupancies. <br />Sprinkler-Automatic <br /> <br />A fire suppression device which operates automatically when its heat-actuated element is heated <br />to or above its thermal rating allowing water to discharge over a specific area. <br /> <br />Sprinkler System <br /> <br />An integrated system of piping connected to a water supply, with listed fire sprinklers which will <br />automatically initiate water discharge over a fire area. When required, the fire sprinkler system <br />also includes a control valve, check valve and a device for actuating an alarm when the system <br />operates. <br /> <br />Standard <br /> <br />A document containing only mandatory provisions using the work "shall" to indicate <br />requirements.
