5 <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2169 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON AMENDING <br />CHAPTER 18.110 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE (PERSONAL WIRELESS SERVICE <br />FACILITIES) TO ALLOW FOR SMALL -CELL -WIRELESS SYSTEMS IN THE HACIENDA <br />BUSINESS PARK WHERE THE SYSTEMS ARE CONCEALED <br />WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the importance of increasing cellular capacity and <br />coverage through small -cell -wireless systems and wishes to promote these systems by adopting this <br />ordinance; <br />WHEREAS, the Hacienda Business Park and the City of Pleasanton desire to share the revenue <br />generated from the leasing of the interior of streetlight poles within the City -right-of-way in the Hacienda <br />Business Park; <br />WHEREAS, "smart poles" will be installed to replace the existing streetlight poles and will result <br />in improved cellular coverage and capacity for residents, businesses, and visitors to Hacienda while at <br />the same time maintaining the aesthetic qualities that the citizens of Pleasanton desire. <br />WHEREAS, on August 23, 2017, the Planning Commission reviewed the proposed <br />amendments to Chapter 18.110 and recommended approval to the City Council. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY <br />ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION 1. Amends Pleasanton Municipal Code Chapter 18.110 (Personal Wireless Service <br />Facilities) as shown in Exhibit A. <br />SECTION 2. A summary of this ordinance shall be published once within fifteen (15) days after <br />its adoption in "The Valley Times", a newspaper of general circulation published in the City of <br />Pleasanton, and the complete ordinance shall be posted for fifteen (15) days in the City Clerk's office <br />within fifteen (15) days after its adoption. <br />SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be effective thirty (30) days after its passage and adoption. <br />The foregoing Ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of <br />Pleasanton on September 5, 2017, by the following vote. <br />Ayes: Councilmembers Brown, Narum, Olson, Pentin, Mayor Thorne <br />Noes: <br />Absent: <br />Abstain: <br />ATTEST: <br />Karen Diaz, City Clerk <br />APPROVED AS TO FORM: <br />Jerry Thorne, Mayor <br />
