Karen Diaz SUPPLEMENTAL MATE'Ri9AL
rruvluCU Lk) LilV at/ Cs.'^^"
From: James Paxson After Distribution of Packet
Sent: Tuesday, September 05, 2017 2:29 PM SEP 0 5 2017
To: CityCouncil i)qte
Cc: Julie Harryman; Gerry Beaudin;Adam Weinstein; Karen Diaz; Ellen Holmgren; Lisa
Tarnow
Subject: Small Cell Site Amendment and Hacienda Maintenance Agreements Amendment
Mayor Thorne and Councilmembers -
I wanted to take a moment to commend staff on the preparation of their reports to the City Council as I will not be able to
attend the meeting this evening. We support the recommendations and urge the City Council's adoption of these two
items.
I wanted to note two points concerning the staff report in case they come up in discussion. These are as follows:
• In case it is not self-evident, this is a critical piece of infrastructure for Hacienda. Allowing the introduction of these
small cell sites is not only important from the standpoint of addressing existing, often severe, service irregularities
that greatly impede our ability to do business but also helps insure that our services remain competitive for the
foreseeable future which is key to bringing companies to the area. The need for connectivity through a variety of
means, including wireless facilities, is essential for Hacienda to retain its attractiveness as a premier working and
living location.
• The rendering of the Hacienda pole is actually not the style that will be used in the park. The main pole will be
square (and not fluted as is shown in the picture) so that they will more closely match the existing square poles in
use throughout the development. In addition, the base will have a plaque with our logo on it which we believe is a
nice place-making element that will enhance the attractiveness of the poles. Given the high attention that is paid
to aesthetics and design I wanted to be sure that this detail was noted if it arose in discussion.
We appreciate the opportunity to work with the city on this important project. At a recent meeting, our Board of Directors
voted unanimously to support the various provisions of the two items before you this evening and we hope the City
Council will see fit to do likewise. Please feel free to contact me if there is anything else I can do to assist.
Regards
James Paxson
General Manager, Hacienda
• P!pasanton,California x4588-2738
'1.idirectl I fax]
www.Hacienda.orq I Hacienda Online!
