8 <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 2166 <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> AMENDING CHAPTER 20.70 OF THE PLEASANTON MUNICIPAL CODE TO <br /> ESTABLISH AN EXPEDITED, STREAMLINED PERMITTING PROCESS FOR <br /> ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING STATIONS <br /> WHEREAS, the State of California and the City of Pleasanton recognize the importance of <br /> promoting and encouraging the use of electric vehicles by limiting obstacles and minimizing the <br /> permitting costs for such systems; and <br /> WHEREAS, California Government Code section § 65850.7 requires every city and county to <br /> adopt an ordinance that creates an expedited, streamlined permitting process for electric vehicle <br /> charging stations; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the importance of"green building" and the creation of <br /> an expedited, streamlined and cost-effective permitting process for electric vehicle charging stations <br /> would facilitate convenient charging of electric vehicles and help reduce the community's reliance on <br /> fossil fuels. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY <br /> ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 1. Finds the amendment to the Pleasanton Municipal Code establishing an <br /> expedited permitting process for electric vehicle charging stations is exempt from the California <br /> Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) as there is no possibility that the permitting process may have a <br /> significant effect on the environment per Title 14 Cal. Code of Regs. §15061(b)(3). <br /> Section 2. Amends Pleasanton Municipal Code Title 20 Buildings and Construction, Chapter <br /> 20.70, as set forth the attached Exhibit A. <br /> Section 3. A summary of this ordinance shall be published once within fifteen (15) days after <br /> its adoption in "The Valley Times", a newspaper of general circulation published in the City of <br /> Pleasanton, and the complete ordinance shall be posted for fifteen (15) days in the City Clerk's office <br /> within fifteen (15) days after its adoption. <br /> Section 4. This ordinance shall be effective thirty (30) days after its passage and adoption. <br /> The foregoing Ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of <br /> Pleasanton on August 15, 2017 and adopted by the City Council of the City of Pleasanton on September <br /> 5, 2017 by the following vote: <br /> Ayes: Councilmembers Brown, Narum, Olson, Pentin, Mayor Thorne <br /> Noes: None <br /> Absent: None <br /> Abstain: None <br /> Jerry Thorne, Mayor <br />
