CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, ALAMEDA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 03-112 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING THE RECOMMENDATIONS <br />FOR USE OF THE LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT BLOCK <br />GRANT <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act authorizes the director of the Bureau of <br />Justice Assistance to make funds available to units of local government under the Local <br />Law Enforcement Block Grant Program for the purposes of reducing crime and <br />improving public safety; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />an advisory committee was formed consisting of representatives from the local court <br />system, the local school system, the local prosecutor's office, a local nonprofit group, and <br />the local law enforcement agency; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Bureau of Justice requires a ten percent matching fund for the program; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />at its meeting of October 21, 2003, the City Council received a report from the Chief of <br />Police (SR 03:309) regarding the recommended uses of the Local Law Enforcement <br />Block Grant. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COLrNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: Approves the following uses for the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant: <br /> <br />X-26 Taser Devices $9,053 <br />Omega Crime View Training/System Enhancements $2,500 <br />Digital Camera(s) $2,000 <br /> <br />Section 2: <br /> <br />Approves the allocation of $1,355, representing a 10% matching fund, and establishment <br />of an interest beating Trust Fund into which the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant and <br />Match Funds will be deposited. <br /> <br />Section 3: This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> <br />
