Modify the sentence of the ninth paragraph on page 21 to read as follows: <br />"Commissioner Balch stated that he personally likes Mr. Tassano's comments <br />and would personally support the left -turn lane in the Building A's entry to the <br />entire complex because this is the only entry...." <br />Modify the last sentence of the third paragraph on page 24 to read as follows: <br />"He noted that the architect mentioned the tightness of the site and the parking <br />ratio ... the applicant should be able to take away tuck in the staircases." <br />Commissioner Allen requested the following: <br />• Modify the last sentence of the second full paragraph on page 8 to read as <br />follows: "She indicated that it is really important that that the applicant put back <br />some large trees because the trees to be removed provide shading screening for <br />that shopping center." <br />• Modify the sentence of the second -to -last paragraph on page 12 to read as <br />follows: "Commissioner Allen asked Mr. Tassano how he will know if there is an <br />issue to address with the drive - thru." <br />Commissioner Balch moved to approve the Minutes of the October 22, 2014 <br />Meeting, as amended. <br />Commissioner Piper seconded the motion. <br />ROLL CALL VOTE: <br />AYES: Commissioners Allen, Balch, O'Connor, Piper and Ritter <br />NOES: None <br />ABSTAIN: None <br />RECUSED: Commissioner Balch on Item 6.a. <br />ABSENT: None <br />The Minutes of the October 22, 2014 Meeting were approved, as amended. <br />3. MEETING OPEN FOR ANY MEMBER OF THE AUDIENCE TO ADDRESS THE <br />PLANNING COMMISSION ON ANY ITEM WHICH IS NOT ALREADY ON THE <br />AGENDA <br />Michael Miller, together with his wife, Darlene, stated that they are long -term residents <br />of Pleasanton and own a home in the Valley Trails neighborhood and appreciate very <br />much the chance to bring before the Commission an issue that is very important to them <br />in a personal way. He indicated that they live right next to the Masonic Lodge located at <br />3370 Hopyard Road, and theirs is the only property that shares a fence line with the <br />Lodge. <br />Mr. Miller stated that prior to 2016, they had no problems with the Masons; the Masons <br />were perfect neighbors, and the Millers never heard a sound from the Lodge even when <br />between 20 and 30 commercial events were conducted inside the building every year. <br />He indicated, however, that somewhere between 2004 and 2006, the City allowed the <br />Masons to remodel its building, breaking through the back wall and installing French <br />doors, thereby creating access directly from the building into the backyard area and <br />turning the backyard into a place where events for the public or for the Masons could be <br />PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES, November 12, 2014 Page 2 of 35 <br />
