She added that she was <br />also aware that the General Plan has nearly 1,300 additional high- density zoned units. <br />She stated that what is important to her and to many Pleasanton residents sitting and <br />standing right behind her is that the City at least consider limiting any unnecessary and <br />unwanted growth. She urged the Commissioners to help preserve the resource, the <br />environment, and the beauty of their beloved City, and more importantly, preserve the <br />lifestyle they have chosen when they decided to settle down in this City many years <br />ago. <br />Jackie Byerly stated that she has lived in Pleasanton since 1991. She noted <br />Mr. Dolan's statement that the City Council can put a moratorium on building. She <br />questioned, if schools get so packed that the quality of education goes down and people <br />start moving out of Pleasanton; or if the streets are so jammed during traffic hours that <br />the quality of life goes down so much; or if the police force gets so stretched that the <br />safety of the City goes down, if those would be reasons for the City Council to consider <br />declaring a moratorium. She added that if the City's becoming unsafe and crime - ridden <br />because of the stress put on the police force would be a reason to slow down as well. <br />Karen Ellgas and James Paxson came forward to speak together. <br />Karen Ellgas stated that she is a resident of the Parkside development and her reason <br />for coming tonight is to tell the Commission that she was one of four people who met <br />with Embarcadero Properties and James Paxson to discuss the zoning for the <br />CM Capital property. He noted that they came out of that conversation understanding <br />that they have common interests in the rezoning of the property. She indicated that the <br />Pleasanton Valley Voters for Smart Growth would like the following additions and <br />changes to the zoning for the CM Capital property: <br />1. Remove the mandatory 30 units per acre density; <br />2. Restrict future residential units to no more than 12.5 per acre; <br />3. Restrict future residential building height to no more than 35 feet and commercial <br />to no more than the current height of 45 feet; and <br />4. Determine appropriate future building setback on the Arroyo side at a later date. <br />Ms. Ellgas stated that they believe the zoning changes would benefit the Pleasanton <br />Valley Voters for Smart Growth, Embarcadero, and the City of Pleasanton as a whole. <br />She indicated that it was a pleasure to have met Embarcadero and to be in discussior <br />with James Paxson.
