No. 309 <br />Rezoning Approximately 94 Acres Located East of Santa Rita Road between Mohr Ave- <br />nue and the Kai$er private road, from the A District to the R -1 District <br />Vice -Mayor Bubics re- opened the public hearing which was continued from <br />December 20, 1965. <br />Mr. Fales reviewed the report of both the Planning Commission, and Livingston <br />and Blayney, dated December 17th and 19th, respectively. Mr. Fales indicated that <br />the previous position of the City had been re- evaluated and the recommendation of <br />the Staff and Planning Commission remained that the appeal be denied and the land <br />in question be held for industrial development. <br />Mr. John Edmands, Chairman of the Industrial Committee of the Chamber of Com- <br />merce, reported on each of the parcels considered for industrial land use and <br />presented the Committee's recommendation. The recommendation of the Committee on <br />tl}e subject property was that all the 94 acres be zoned to industrial. <br />Mr. McDevitt, representing Devmar, Inc., requested that the City Council con- <br />sider zoning approximately 23 to 30 acres as industrial and zone the remaining <br />acreage for R -1. <br />Mr. Ted Fairfield, representing MacKay & Somps, spoke on the subject of <br />utility service costs regarding this property. <br />After considerable discussion, it was moved by Councilman Gerton and seconded <br />by Councilman Harding that the public hearing be closed. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Gerton, Harding, McWilliams and Vice -Mayor Bubics <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Mayor Long <br />After considerable discussion among the Councilmen, and in view of the new <br />proposal of Mr. McDevitt regarding the possibility of retaining 23 -30 acres for <br />industrial use, it was suggested that the Industrial Development Committee of the <br />Chamber of Commerce hold a Study Session on this matter. <br />Vice -Mayor Bubics recessed the meeting at 9 :35 P.M. in order to give Mr. Mc- <br />Devitt an opportunity to discuss the matter of obtaining a one -month extension on <br />his option on this property with Mr. Ed Orloff. <br />Vice -Mayor Bubics reconvened the meeting at 9:45 P.M. <br />Mr. McDevitt indicated that Mr. Orloff would grant an extension of his option <br />on this property until April 18, 1966. <br />It was moved by Councilman Gerton and seconded by Councilman Harding that the <br />Public Hearing on this matter be re- opened and continued to April 18th at 7:30 P,M. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Gerton, Harding, McWilliams and Vice -Mayor Bubics <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Mayor Long <br />REPORTS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS were not presented at this meeting. <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY MANAGER <br />City Manager Report No. 691 Water Rate Analysis <br />Mr. Fales suggested and the City Council concurred that discussion of this <br />report be deferred to the Zone 7 Water Contract Study Session. <br />MINUTES <br />of <br />THE MEETING <br />of <br />THE CITY COUNCIL <br />Pleasanton, California <br />March 21, 1966 <br />THE CITY COUNCIL met in Adjourned Regular Session at 7:30 P.M. on the above date <br />with Vice -Mayor Bubics presiding. <br />ROLL CALL by the City Clerk evidenced the following attendance: Councilmen Bubics, <br />Gerton, Harding and McWilliams were present. Mayor Long was absent. Mr. Fates, <br />City Manager; Mr. Struthers, City Attorney; and Mrs. Woodward, City Clerk; were <br />present.
