MINUTES <br />of <br />THE MEETING <br />of <br />THE CITY COUNCIL <br />Pleasanton, California <br />February 28, 1966 <br />THE CITY COUNCIL met in Regular Session at 7:30 P.M. on the above date with Mayor <br />pro -tem Gerton presiding. <br />ROLL CALL by the City Clerk evidenced the following attendance: Councilmen Gerton, <br />Harding and McWilliams were present. Councilman Bubics and Mayor Long were absent. <br />Mr. Struthers, City Attorney; Mr. Campbell, City Engineer; and Mrs. Woodward, City <br />Clerk; were present. Mr. Fales, City Manager, was absent. <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG was led by Mayor pro -tem Gerton. <br />MEETING OPEN FOR ANY MEMBER OF THE AUDIENCE TO ADDRESS THE COUNCIL <br />No one addressed the Chair. <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />Appeal of Shell Oil Co. 315 Derby Ave. Oakland from an adverse decision of he <br />Planning Commission in denying an application for a Conditional Use Permit in order <br />to construct an automobile service station with a reduced front, side and rear yard <br />setback, located at the southeast corner of First St. and Vineyard Ave., in a C -T <br />District <br />Representatives of the Shell Oil Company requested that their appeal of the <br />above matter be continued to March 7th. <br />It was moved by Councilman McWilliams and seconded by Councilman Harding that <br />the request from the representatives of Shell Oil Company for a continuance of their <br />Public Hearing to March 7th, 1966, be accepted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Gerton, Harding and McWilliams <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Bubics and Mayor Long <br />Adoption by reference of the Uniform Buildin Code 1964 Edition and A..endix• the <br />U iform Buildin: Code Standards 1964 Edition <br />the International Conference of Bldg. Officials; and the Western Plumbing Officials <br />Uniform Plumbin Code 1964 Edition Oct. 1963 <br />Mr. William Leonard, Executive Vice President of the Associated Home Builders of <br />the Greater East Bay, Inc., stated that his organization supported the Uniform <br />Building Code but suggested that copper pipes be used instead of galvanized pipes <br />in the Uniform Plumbing Code. <br />The City Clerk reported that there had been no written public hearing communica- <br />tions. <br />It was moved by Councilman McWilliams and seconded by Councilman Harding that <br />the Public Hearing be closed. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Gerton, Harding and McWilliams <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Bubics and Mayor Long <br />Councilman McWilliams re- introduced Ordinance No. 440, Uniform Building Code, <br />1964 Edition, and Appendix; the Uniform Building Code Standards, 1964 Edition, <br />Volume III as copyrighted in 1964 by the International Conference of Building <br />Officials. <br />Councilman McWilliams re- introduced Ordinance No. 441, Uniform Plumbing Code, <br />1964 Edition, October, 1963. <br />It was moved by Councilman McWilliams and seconded by Councilman Harding that <br />the reading of Ordinances No. 440 and 441, be waived. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Gerton, Harding and McWilliams <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Bubics and Mayor Long <br />PRESENTATION RE: 1966 CALIFORNIA SPRING GARDEN SHOW <br />Mrs. Marjorie Mederios, spoke encouraging the beautification of California and <br />requested that the City Council adopt a resolution proclaiming April 22nd to May <br />1st the 1966 California Spring Garden Show Week. <br />Slides of flowers and various outdoor gardens were shown. <br />It was moved by Councilman Harding and seconded by Councilman McWilliams that <br />Resolution No. 66 -24, proclaiming April 22nd to May lst as the 1966 California <br />Spring Garden Show Week, be adopted. <br />
